
TLDR: Although Castle fans will gladly tell you LEGO have abandoned the theme it doesn't take much to see that Castle has actually been around pretty consistently in some form for over 40 years. Interestingly 10305-1 revives the stickered shield with the Crown on a pink background seen in the Yellow Castle set. In these early days (dubbed 'Classic Castle' by fans) were factionless and involved generic knights. I'm not sure this story has ever been confirmed by LEGO though.
